MBTA Pushcart Program

THE MBTA PUSHCART PROGRAM IS NOT ACCEPTING ANY NEW VENDORS AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CHECK BACK WITH US ON JANUARY 5, 2009 FOR AN UPDATE.

The MBTA has approximately 120 pushcart locations currently operating throughout its system. The MBTA only provides space for pushcarts and where available, electricity. The pushcart itself as well as all other supplies must be provided by you. Spaces are limited to those approved by the MBTA Operations Department. Locations for pushcarts are available by application only. If your business is approved for a pushcart location, a renewable license for a term of one (1) year will be issued. In order to apply for a Pushcart Location and a License, please follow the steps below.

Step 1. Fill out the Pushcart Program Application and the first and Last pages of either the Pushcart Program License for Transit Stations OR the Pushcart Program License for Commuter Rail Stations, whichever applies to your location. PLEASE FILL OUT AND SIGN THE APPLICATION IN ENGLISH. APPLICATIONS IN OTHER LANGUAGES ARE PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. TRA DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY OF THE TRANSLATIONS. IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION YOU SHOULD HAVE IT INDEPENDENTLY TRANSLATED.

Transit Realty Associates, LLC.
77 Franklin Street, 9th Floor

Step 3. TRA will seek approval for your desired location from the MBTA. This approval process can take up to 30 business days. If pre-approved locations are available, you may be offered an alternative location. You will be promptly notified if your request is approved or denied by the MBTA. Completing an application does not guarantee that you will receive a location.

Step 4. Once your request is approved, we will contact you about setting the license fee amount. Then you will receive a license agreement in the mail. Please review and sign the license agreement. A complete license package should be returned to TRA and includes:

• Signed license agreement
• License fee for the first month.
• Passport-sized photo(s) of every person (including yourself) who will be working on the pushcart.
• A completed and signed CORI Form for every person (including yourself) who will be working on the pushcart.
