Pushcart Program

PLEASE NOTE: The MBTA is not currently accepting applications for new pushcart locations. The MBTA does not offer seasonal pushcart applications. The MBTA offers two types of licenses, a twelve (12) month license and a 6 month seasonal license where applicable and determined by the MBTA Real Estate Office. The shortest term available is six (6) months. For more information, please contact Donna Hill in the MBTA Real Estate office at 617.222.3428.

Obtaining a license to operate a pushcart is available by application only. Completing an application does not guarantee that you will receive a location. If approved, you will be issued a six (6) month or a one (1) year license, which is renewable after the first year. Licenses are automatically renewed for the following year if vendor is in compliance with rules and regulations of the push cart agreement. Vendor would be notified if for any reason their license is not renewed. If you are interested in pursuing a license to operate a pushcart on MBTA property, please follow the steps below.

  1. Call Donna Hill, MBTA Property Coordinator, at 617.222.3428, to schedule an appointment to discuss submitting an application. She is available by appointment only. Please bring a government-issued photo identification to your appointment, such as a driver's license, military identification card, passport or green card.

  2. Complete and submit a Pushcart Program Application, as well as an Access Privilege Application for each proposed employee.

  3. The approval process can take up to 30 business days. If your application is approved, you will be notified by Donna Hill and she will schedule an appointment to finalize your license agreement and obtain MBTA photo identification cards for you and your employees.
